Fare-class behavior
Domestic Economy
Value includes 15 kg, Classic 20 kg, and Flex 25 kg of checked baggage. The optional Basic fare being trialled on select domestic routes also includes 15 kg. Below 25 kg of free allowance, Air India permits one checked piece; at 25 kg or more, it permits two.
Premium cabins
Business and First Class have higher cabin baggage allowances, but premium-cabin checked-bag and change-fee treatment is not reduced to one universal ladder here.
International and purchase path
International allowances and charges use either weight or piece concept. Eligible Air India tickets beginning 098 can prepay additional weight or pieces and save up to 20%, but the final price shown during purchase controls and a return flight requires a separate purchase.
Partner or non-Air India operations
The carry-on guidance is limited to Air India-operated flights. Partner-operated segments may use the operating carrier's baggage rules.
When fees may not apply
- Domestic Economy allowances are fare-specific: Value and select-route Basic include 15 kg, Classic 20 kg, and Flex 25 kg.
