Is a carry-on included—or only a personal item?

Those are different allowances. A personal item must fit under the seat; a full-size carry-on normally uses the overhead bin. Many fares include both, but some Basic and low-cost fares include only the smaller personal item. Check the fare entitlement before comparing bag dimensions or advertised prices.

1. Entitlement

Confirm whether the exact fare includes an overhead bag, only an under-seat item, or neither.

2. Outside dimensions

Measure wheels, handles, and pockets. A product name such as “international carry-on” does not prove compliance.

3. Weight limit

A dimension-compliant bag can still fail the rule when the airline also publishes a cabin-bag weight cap.

4. Purchase timing

If cabin access is sold separately, compare the booking price with any bundle or seat that includes it before airport day.

For a roundtrip, multiply any required cabin-bag charge by travelers and directions. Then compare that total with a fare, bundle, or competing airline that already includes the bag you need.
