Where the base fare stops

Cabin-bag trigger

Volaris carry-on access depends on fare bundle. Zero and Basic include only a personal item, while Plus and Premium include one carry-on bag.

What travels free

Zero and Basic can work for a very small-bag trip, but they are not the same as a normal overhead carry-on fare.

Paid checked-bag model

Volaris checked baggage is not included on Zero and Basic fares. Fees depend on fare bundle, route, and purchase timing.

Highest-risk restriction

The main Volaris risks are personal-item-only fares, checked-bag add-ons, airport overweight/oversize fees, paid seats, and change restrictions.

Quick ways to avoid fees

Do not book Zero or Basic unless a personal item is enough or the bag add-on still leaves the fare cheaper.
Compare Plus or Premium when you need a carry-on bag.
Buy checked baggage before the airport when needed because pricing depends on fare bundle, route, and timing.
Keep checked bags within weight and size limits to avoid airport overweight or oversize treatment.
